When you have finished this section of work, you will have shown that you know the names of parts of a computer system and know how to use ICT equipment safely.

The Health and Safety rules that you explain should be the two or three most important things you have to remember. Ask your supervisor for a copy of the Health and Safety Rules.

2. Presenting Information using ICT

When you have finished this section of work, you will have shown that you can enter information using ICT and can present information using ICT, for a purpose.

To do this you must:-

1. start up a computer system
2. open a word processing package
3. enter text
4. save your document
5. print a copy of your document
6. use a printer to produce a hard copy of the document

Guidance

You will have to switch on your computer and log on. If you have to type in a password your tutor or supervisor will help you.

You will have to open the word processing package and type in your text, by copying from handwritten notes. You must save your text onto a disk or the hard drive before you print a copy.

You will need to think of a file name into which to save your document. You should check with your tutor or supervisor that you are able to use the printer and then print a copy of your document.
