Basic Skills Online - Entry Level 2 - Literacy Requirements
Speaking and listening - At this level, adults are expected to:
- Listen for and follow the gist.
- Listen for detail.
- Listen for and identify the main points.
- Listen for and follow explanations and instructions.
- Ask questions to clarify understanding.
- Speak clearly to be heard and understood.
- Ask for information and ask questions.
- Engage in discussion with one or more people in a familiar situation.
Reading - At this level, adults are expected to:
- Read and understand short, straightforward texts on familiar topics.
- Use pictures and captions to find information.
- Read and understand common words in instructions and directions.
- Identify common sources of information.
- Use a simple dictionary.
- Use first letters to find and put words in alphabetical order.
Writing - At this level, adults are expected to:
- Complete forms and records.
- Write to convey information.
- Use written words or phrases.
- Write simple and compound sentences using conjunctions (eg: and, but, etc.)
- Use adjectives.
- Use punctuation correctly (Capital letters, full stops and question marks.)
- Spell correctly most personal keywords and familiar words.
- Write legibly.
