They will have to know at least six places where they can get information about getting a job
and at least four people who can help them make decisions about a career.

They must talk with their tutor or supervisor about the career options that are available to them
after finishing this course.

- They must know what each of the five stages of getting a job means:
- finding and reading a job advert
- making a job application
- attending an interview

- reading and signing a contract
-
Their tutor or supervisor should explain each stage to them.
-
They will have to know at least six different places where job adverts can be found.
-
Their tutor or supervisor should give them some job adverts and they must choose one that they think will
suit they. They must talk to their tutor or supervisor about the job they have chosen and say why they would
like the job and why think they would be good at it.
Applying for a Job - At this level, adults are expected to:
-
They must ask for an application form either by making a telephone call or writing a letter.
-
If they have to telephone, their tutor or supervisor should take the part of the person they have to
telephone, so they can practise making the call.
-
If they have to write a letter it must be in a suitable layout, clear, with information in a sensible
order so that the application form can be sent to they.
-
They will have to complete an application form which includes their name, address, post code,
telephone number, reasons why they would like the job and the name and address of someone who will give
them a reference. They must follow the instructions on the form e.g. write in BLOCK CAPITALS if asked,
write clearly and make sure they have included all the information they have been asked for.
-
Their telephone call or letter and their application form will need to be good enough to persuade an
employer to give them an interview.
Interview Skills - At this level, adults are expected to:
-
They must know what they are going to wear so that they look smart, but also feel comfortable
and relaxed when they go for their interview.
-
They will need to have a practice interview with their tutor or supervisor. They should treat this like
a real interview and make sure they are clear and polite. They will have to do the practice interview
well enough that the person interviewing they would want to give them the job.
